OUR PURPOSE

The Houston Consular Ball is the Mayor’s Premier White Tie Gala, honoring the 90-plus consulates and the international communities that are represented in Houston.

The Houston Consular Ball has a rich and storied history, spanning over six decades. It was first organized by the volunteer organization Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) in 1952 and hosted by the Mayor of Houston. Due to the growth in Houston’s consular representation, the City was asked to assume organizing this great event.  The Consular Ball is aligned with Houston International Initiatives (HII), with proceeds utilized by HII for the city’s international outreach and education.  In this capacity, HII serves to streamline international outreach and foster education efforts throughout the city of Houston.
